back to MEU Symposium 2018 Guide

Dear participants,

On behalf of all the team of BETA Europe, it is my absolute honour and pleasure to welcome you to Prague for a new edition of Model European Union Symposium!

Since 2008, the Bringing Europeans Together Association has been organising simulations of EU politics and helping others to do the same. With a new headquarters in Brussels and a new federal structure, BETA Europe now has a presence in 13 countries and holds additional 23 partner organisations in Europe and beyond.

Over the past four years, MEU Symposium has affirmed itself as a reference project for BETA. Gathering BETA members, BETA national organisation and our partner organisations, this annual reunion of our European family is the ultimate learning experience for MEU enthusiasts, creating a discussion platform dedicated to the entire organising process of MEU events.

Participants will have a unique opportunity of meeting members of other organisations and share their knowledge, experiences and best practices. From MEU organisers to BETA team members - past, present or future – this event is for you!

This year, the event will be a combination of presentations, roundtables and workshops aimed at providing essential training on how to successfully organise a MEU event, as well as discussing how to further innovate and expand our #MEUniverse. Given by expert organisers, these shall cover all relevant different aspects of an MEU event, all the way from fundraising, public relations, participants coordination, chairing or topic selection, to more structural aspects like starting and managing your own organisation, motivating volunteers and leading a team.

We sincerely hope that the BETA culture of networking and collaborative work inspires each and every one of you to keep working towards a more collaborative and professional MEU event organisation throughout Europe and beyond.

This Guide contains everything you need to know prior to your arrival to the Symposium. It covers information about the logistics and the timetable with the list of the sessions that are going to be held during the event. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

The last word goes to the organisers. I could not be more grateful to all the volunteers of both the teams of BETA Europe and BETA Czech Republic, who have spent months preparing this event. Please do not hesitate in showing them all your love and appreciation during the event: their dedication and hard work is what makes this 4th edition of MEU Symposium a reality.

Enjoy Prague to the fullest!

Best wishes,

Cláudio Teixeira

President of Bringing Europeans Together Association (BETA e.V.)
